Sol Cubano

Welcome to Sol Cubano, a hidden gem in North Highlands, CA that offers a taste of authentic Cuban cuisine. As a food reviewer in Restaurant World, I had the pleasure of dining at this Latinx-owned restaurant that exudes warmth and flavor.

Upon entering Sol Cubano, you are transported to Cuba through its vibrant decor, lively music, and delectable food. The menu boasts a variety of Cuban dishes, from traditional oxtail stew to mouth-watering empanadas.

I had the opportunity to try the famous Cubano sandwich, which was a home run with its crispy Cuban bun filled with pork, ham, cheese, pickles, and mustard. The flavors melded together perfectly, leaving me craving more.

One standout dish for me was the mango sticky rice, which was a blend of sweet and savory flavors that left me wanting to come back for more. The curry dish also impressed me with its spicy kick and bold flavors.

The service at Sol Cubano was exceptional, with friendly staff who made me feel welcome and cared for. The atmosphere was inviting, making it a great spot for group gatherings or a cozy dinner for two.

If you're a coffee lover, don't miss out on their invigorating espresso that packs a flavorful punch. And for dessert, treat yourself to some fried sweet plantains that are hot and fresh.

In conclusion, Sol Cubano is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the vibrant flavors of Cuban cuisine in Sacramento. From the welcoming atmosphere to the delicious dishes, this restaurant truly exceeded my expectations. I left full and happy, eager to return for more culinary delights.

I haven't been here in quite a while, and I had an appointment at the McClellan VA, so I decided to stop in for lunch. I am glad they were open. Right now, They are open for lunch and dinner, Wednesday through Saturday, and then closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I always enjoy the place, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but it has a nice atmosphere of a tropical restaurant on the inside. I decided to start with the croquetas. Basically, ham croquettes. The order comes with six, which was too much for me, so they were nice enough to do a half order for me. They came with a very good dipping sauce, which had the texture and flavor of "fry sauce". If you don't know what fry sauce is, the basic ingredients are ketchup and mayonnaise,, and then you can go on and add other ingredients from there. The croquetas tasted good, but for me, they were a bit too gummy in the middle. I don't know if that's supposed to be the texture or they weren't cooked enough, but they were not a success for me. Next time I would probably just order the plantains, which I know are good. The traditional Cubano, or Cuban sandwich, however, was a home run. Pork, ham, cheese, pickles, and mustard, on a pressed Cuban bun. Wonderfully crispy, and the flavors just melded so well together. I love a good Cubano, and this one is very good. The price of the meal with soda and tip was very reasonable. I left full and Happy . I will continue to come back. Thank you.
